Our rights cant be sacrificed
Re: Neighbours Frantic To Catch Bomber, Jan. 12.
According to this story, EnCana security guards are shining flashlights in the windows of peoples homes and pulling people over for interrogation on public roads. Those actions are illegal. Private security guards have no more rights or powers than any other citizen. Its also disturbing that at least one local resident felt obliged to provide a DNA sample to clear himself of suspicion. That action runs contrary to our societys presumption of innocence.
Tensions might be high due to the bombing. But if we dont stand up for our rights, well lose them.
